We have a variety of classes for children that we run during the week, in term time, from Ballroom and Latin American to Ballet & Tap.
On Thursdays at 2pm we have an afternoon 'Baby Ballet' class providing imaginative play, fun games and the very basic technique of Ballet.
We aim to combine well recognised activities with movement and preparing students for Pre-primary graded syllabus work.
These classes are aimed at the 2-4yr old's and cost £3.50 per session or £18 for a block of 6 sessions.
Ballet & Tap
(4-7yrs & 8-12yrs)
Later on a Thursday we have our after-school sessions for the 4-7yr age range (4.30pm) and the 8-12yr age range (5.30pm) covering Ballet & Tap. In these classes we begin working through the ISTD Graded Syllabus Ballet consisting of Barre work to begin with, followed by technical training and finishing off with the learning of turns, leaps and 'Allegro enchainmants' which train fast footwork.
Tap also follows the ISTD Grade Syllabus for the 4-7's (Pre-primary to Grade 1 Level) and the 8-12's (Grade 2 onwards) with choreography along with freework also featured.
These classes cost £5 per child or £25 for a block of 6 sessions.
Ballroom and Latin American
(Under 8s, 9-12s & Under 16s)
Our Ballroom and Latin American classes run on a Sunday morning for the Under 8s (10am), 9-12s (10.30am) and the Under 16s (11am).
Classes cost £3.50 per child or £18 for 6 sessions. If coming for both Under 10s sessions it is £5 for both.
Our Under 8s, or Rainbow, classes are fun classes designed to give children a gentle introduction to basic Ballroom and Latin American dances as well as basic principles and disciplines, via 'party dances' and basic sequences.
The aim is for the children to learn to follow instruction and routines without them realising by way of fun group sequences and the closing 'Hokey Cokey' which we do ask parents/guardians to participate in to increase the fun.
Bi-annually we run exam sessions, under the NATD, which allow students to obtain different bands of the Rainbow culminating in a completed memento of their achievements
The 9-12yr classes start to work with more of the basic steps and focus more on developing good technique whilst learning to interact with other students.
Exam sessions here are at the pre-bronze level.
Our Under 16s classes cover much more choreography and greater focus on technique to achieve Bronze level in our bi-annual exam sessions.
Please feel free to turn up on the day, there's no need to book in advance.
Please check our calendar to make sure classes are running as there are some dates when there will be no classes either due to outside of term time, or no instructor availability (though these instances are rare).
We also run regular exam sessions with rainbows for the under 8 year olds to social dance tests and bronze/silver/gold as they get older. All exams are taken as part of zthe National Association of Teachers of Dancing (NATD).
All kids classes take place at our studio in Burnham:
